Gone Too Far, hosted by Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein, is a series of seven one-hour documentaries centered around a young person who has a serious drug addiction and desperately needs help. Their lives are in a downward spiral, and their loved ones are desperate for a way to keep them from self destruction.
With the help of a certified addiction specialist, DJ AM leads the family through an intervention. The addict is given the opportunity to check into a residential treatment facility outside of their community for up to 90 days. If they choose to go, the Gone Too Far cameras follow the addict through the difficult detox and rehabilitation process. Some will find the road to recovery and turn their lives around, but others will find the grip of addiction too strong to overcome. The series reveals the harsh realities of hardcore drug addiction while offering hope to those with the willingness and strength to change.
All of us who worked with Adam Goldstein on this series were shocked and devastated by the loss of our friend on August 28, 2009. To everyone he encountered he was funny, charming, and unfailingly compassionate. Despite his own life-long struggle with drug addiction, he was sincerely committed to helping others find sobriety. We are heartbroken that he did not live to see the results of the amazing work he was doing. He is deeply missed by all of us.
